Over the weekend, Nicki Minaj sparked rumored of a feud between herself and fellow rapstress Iggy Azalea during her acceptance speech during the annual 2014 BET Awards.
While accepting her award for Best Female Rapper Nicki stated, “What I want the world to know about Nicki Minaj is, that when you hear Nicki Minaj spit, Nicki Minaj wrote it.”
“No, no, no shade. No, no, no shade,” she quickly added.
But, unfortunately for the rapper, many took her statements to be a jab at the Australian rapstress. After dominating the Billboard Charts with two recent singles, Iggy seems to be Nicki’s only competition these days.
Ms. Onika took to Twitter to clear up the reports tweeting, “The media puts words in my mouth all the time and this is no different. I will always take a stance on women writing b/c I believe in us! I believe we’re smart enough to write down our own thoughts and perspective, just like the men do. I’ve been saying this for 5 YEARS.”
Although Iggy has been pretty quiet about the entire ordeal, she also shared her thoughts on what “took place” or didn’t take place during the award ceremony. She also expressed her disappointment in the pettiness displayed on social media.
