President Barack Obama stirred controversy, Tuesday afternoon, when this photo emerged on the net. The image showcases the President snapping a selfie with UK’s Prime Minister David Cameron and Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmist while at the Nelson Mandela memorial.
The photo, snapped by AFP / Getty photographer Roberto Schmidt, raised questions on whether it was appropriate for the President to take a photo during a funeral service .
It also didn’t help that First Lady Michelle Obama didn’t look too pleased with the act either.
But it wasn’t the only controversial event of the day. The President raised eyebrows, once again, when he shook hands with Cuban president Raul Castro while at the ceremony.
The gesture brought on speculation about whether the President and Cuban leader were allies of some sort. The administration, of course, has since disregarded such claims.
Our thoughts on the matter? It was a harmless photo. In fact, the President’s selfie snapping session was prior to the ceremony began.
Former President George W. Bush, who was also at the memorial, also snapped a selfie with rocker Bono.
