President Barack Obama will need you all to pipe down over allegations he did a personal favor for Jay Z and Beyonce for their 5th anniversary Cuba trip recently.

The President wants us to know he had nothing with giving the couple clearance. During a ‘Today’ show interview to discuss more pressing matters, like the Boston bombing, the President stated “We have more important things to worry about…”

On the couple’s trip to the communist country he says, “I wasn’t familiar that they were taking the trip. My understanding is I think they went through a group that organizes these educational trips down to Cuba.”

As for Jay’s “Open Letter” song addressing the controversy over his trip and insinuating the President gave him the okay, Obama expresses that the song is simply artistic expression and bears no truth.

Hear more of what he had to say during his ‘Today show interview below.

“I wasn’t familiar” is a weird turn of phrase. “I wasn’t aware” or “I had no clue” is clear. “I wasn’t familiar” implies some sort of knowledge.
