Sweethearts, did you watch the highly anticipated season 7 premiere of the ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ Sunday night? If not, then you missed a lot!
Nene Leakes, Kandi Burruss, Phaedra Parks, Cynthia Bailey, Kenya Moore and Porsha Williams all return providing insight in their personal and professional lives.
While Nene Leakes’ career continues to thrive despite previous setbacks, we can’t say the same about her friendships — especially that with Cynthia Bailey. And it doesn’t come as a surprise that Cynthia has grown close to Leakes’ nemesis Kenya Moore. To many viewers’ surprise, in Bailey’s own words, her marriage to Peter Thomas has improved since the demise of her friendship with Leakes, so-much-so, the couple are even in discussions to do a joint business venture.
All is well in Kandi Burruss’ land — still basking in the glory of being a newlywed after marrying television producer Todd Tucker last Spring. The couple has even decided to allow Todd’s eighteen year old daughter, Kaela, to move in with them in their Atlanta home alongside Burruss’ teen daughter Riley Burruss.
Although we haven’t yet met new cast member and radio personality Claudia Jordan, it’s Phaedra Parks and husband Apollo Nida who got much camera time during the show’s premiere. As we’ve previously reported, Nida has been sentenced to eight years in prison on bank and identity fraud related charges. Although Nida has accepted his fate, it’s the difficulty his crimes and sentencing has caused on his marriage that has many talking. Nida feels abandoned by Phaedra and the distance she’s created between himself and their two young sons. Most notably, Parks fled to a local hotel the night before Apollo’s scheduled sentencing. Nida, supported by his half-brother, felt abandoned and concerned he would not be able to say goodbye to his children if ordered to report to prison immediately.
Here’s the debate, while many viewers understand Parks’ decision to remove herself from Apollo’s legal issues and protect her children, others believe that as his wife she should continue to him.
Although we see can both sides of the couple’s argument here, sweethearts what are your thoughts upon watching the show’s premiere? Was Phaedra right for distancing herself and kids from her husband after feeling betrayed or is Apollo still entitled to have his wife and sons beside him during these difficult times?
We’d love to hear your thoughts on the matter.
