On Thursday we initially reported that rapper Remy Ma had been released from custody after serving a six year sentence for shooting a former associate.
The initial reports suggested that Remy, real name Reminisce Smith, was released from Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women into the custody of her husband and rapper Papoose Thursday morning (July 31st, 2014). Unfortunately, that isn’t the case.
We now know that the rapper’s release date has been pushed back due to an incident that occurred on July 21st, REVOLT.com is reporting. The incident, a prison official cited a “disciplinary problem,” ironically occurred on the same day that Remy conducted a phone interview with radio personality Angie Martinez regarding her release from prison.
Missinfo.TV also reports, “Her husband Papoose, managers, family members, friends, fans and camera crews stood outside for hours waiting for the 34-year old Reminisce Smith, with an assortment of fancy cars to take her home. But according to sources on the scene, around noon, prison officials came out and spoke to Papoose personally, and soon after, he and his crew left. In a strong show of restraint, Papoose was reportedly calm despite the news.”
The site also adds that Remy spent her last week in solitary confinement but that her family and friends weren’t aware the alleged incident would delay her release date. It’s believed that the incident had been a fight with another inmate.
The rapper is expected to remain incarcerated pending a response regarding the incident. No future release date has been provided.
