The original “Fly Girl” Rosie Perez, 49 is rehashing a feud more than two decades old with Jennifer Lopez, 44. In her tell-all memoir, “Handbook for an Unpredictable Life,” Perez dishes on her feud with the Bronx native.
In excerpts attained from The New York Post, Perez recalls her days on In Living Color with Lopez.
The two met in 1991 during an open call to find Fly Girl dancers. Perez, the then Fly Girl choreographer claims that she had been the one to convince the show’s creator, Keenan Ivory Wayans, to pick Lopez as one of the dancers.
And although Lopez credits Wayans for giving her her big break, Perez reveals that the show’s creator thought JLo was a bit “chubby” and “corny” to be a dancer and it was she who convinced him otherwise.
Upon being hired Perez again recalls, “All of the girls were coming into my office complaining how she was manipulating wardrobe, makeup, and me, all to her advantage.”
Apparently Lopez thought the other girls were “jealous.” When confronted, Perez again explains that Lopez dropped her “sweet girl act” and “went off” like “some ghetto biatch, screaming and pounding her chest.”
Perez claims Lopez then shouted, “You pick on me, me and only me, every f**king day! Every f**king day! I work my ass off, deliver and you keep pushing me aside, treating me like s**t! I know I’m good! I’m better than any of these girls, and you know it.”
And after leaving the show for only two seasons to pursue and acting career, Perez claims Lopez continued to make “disparaging comments” about her in Hollywood.
She adds that she was surprised, years later, when Lopez acted friendly towards while at the same night club years later.
“Jennifer came over to me, smiling, saying hello as if nothing had happened. I should’ve let it go, played it off, too. Instead, I killed her with my biting tongue.”
