Britney Spears Quits X-Factor!

According to a number of sources, Britney Spears has decided to leave The X Factor USA. Although the news hasn’t been officially confirmed Spears is believed to want out before being fired. We previously reported producers, including Simon Cowell, were disappointed by Spears’ performance on the show after shelling out $15 million and were planning on relieving her of her judging duties.

Spears was believed to bring in ratings and help add more excitement to the show but was rather dull. To add insult to the injury the show’s competition, The Voice, was able to beat the show in ratings for a second season.

As for Britney, she’d like to take time to refocus and revamp her music career.

*Update:* Spears has officially quit the X-Factor! She released this statement, via her rep this afternoon,

‘ve made the very difficult decision not to return for another season. I had an incredible time doing the show and I love the other judges and I am so proud of my teens, but it’s time for me to get back in the studio,” Spears says. “Watching them all do their thing up on that stage every week made me miss performing so much! I can’t wait to get back out there and do what I love most.”
