Well I’ll be…. T.I gets the last laugh after all. After serving nearly a year behind bars, the rapper, released just this morning, has already acquired a new reality show and a book deal. T.I., born Clifford  Joseph Harris Jr., was originally slated to be released on September 29th after serving 11 months for drug possession and being under the influence of an illegal substance at the time of his arrest. Ironically, the rapper, who had just served time in jail for gun possession charges just 5 months earlier, also violated the terms of his parole.

However, with two felonies now behind him, T.I is in talks to star in his own reality show withVH1, documenting his life as he re-adjusts to life as a free man and just how he plans n getting back on top. According to VH1’s press release, here’s what the network has to say about the show.

In the new untitled T.I. series premiering December 5 at 10PM*, viewers will get a behind-the-scenes look at the most private and personal moments of one of today’s hottest, most sought after Grammy winning artists as he is reunited with his wife and kids and thrust back into society at this crucial juncture in his life.

The half hour 10-episode series follows the “King of the South” at his most vulnerable state, as he is released from an 11 month Federal prison term, his second stint in three years.

Along the way we will see T.I. re-acclimate back into his life as a father, husband, son and friend, as well as a musician, a clothier, a businessman, and an actor (he last starred in and produced Sony’s film TAKERS which opened number one at the box office the weekend prior to his arrest).

We will also witness T.I. behind the scenes in studio as he goes about recording yet another likely Grammy-award winning album.

All the while with T.I. needing to abide by a new set of restrictions and obstacles due to his probation terms. Can the King stay on the straight and narrow while juggling the chaos of his kingdom?

And it doesn’t stop there. The rapper has also finalized a book deal with Harper Colllins that will be released in October. The novel, titled ‘Power & Beauty‘  and co-written with David Ritz, is a fictional story surrounding two childhood friends torn apart by dangerous dealings on the streets of Atlanta.

As of this morning, the self proclaimed “King of the South” will serve his remaining 30 days at a halfway house or home confinement in Atlanta until September 29th.

Although many fans are relieved to see the rapper released, all eyes will certainly be on T.I to see how well he uses this third chance to make positive changes in his life. Let’s just keep our fingers crossed.
