The Cotten Kandi Diaries: Mr. Goody Two Shoes

3

I entered the two story accounting firm I’ve worked for the last two years tired from not getting enough sleep the night before. It was a wonder how I managed to get to work on time. In fact, I was 10 minutes earlier than my 9 am road call.

“Good morning Toya,” I heard someone say but couldn’t make out the voice. After all, it was still morning and I couldn’t get my brain to function before 9:30. I needed my usual latte, a bagel and about 30 minutes before I’d be ready to go.

It was only after the strange figure came closer that I realized who it was.

His name was Travis, one of the more knowledgeable accountants in the firm. But boy did he irk my nerves!

Travis was the kind of guy who never did anything other than what he was told. He wore his shirts buttoned to the very top, tucked in, pants hugging his ass, and shoes squeaky clean. He was a man of routine. He ate the same lunch every day, at the same time, sitting at the same table in the employee break room. He was predictable and he was safe. In other words he was boring.

I always thought he needed gumption. He lacked assertion when he spoke and couldn’t muster up an opinion if the planet’s very existence depended on it.

Everything about him irked my nerves. It wasn’t so much what he did that irked me but because he had so much potential and didn’t know it. So much wasted potential.

He was handsome with a great physique and didn’t know what to do with it.

I bet he wouldn’t know what to do with it if I stripped and spread eagle right in front of him. Like I said, wasted potential.

“Oh hi Travis and how are you today?”

“Good. Good. You look beautiful today.”

“Oh thank you.”

“You’re here early I see.”

“Yes, Travis. Yes I am.”

“Well, nice to see you. Have a great day Toya.”

“Yeah, you too.”

There was something about him that looked different that morning but I couldn’t tell what it was.

I quickly got started with my day and dismissed the entire encounter.

It wasn’t until noon when we crossed paths again. I noticed someone had been watching me.

It was Travis.

The most long, intense, eye piercing glare I had ever encountered.

That was when I’d noticed the difference.  He had a new suit.

In fact, I was now noticing the haircut and the fact he was clean shaven. He looked dapper. He looked sexy even.

As he continued to glare I glared back. What was happening here, I thought to myself. This was strange. We’d never looked at each other like this. I had never felt like this, not about him anyway.

But here we both were, sitting directly across from each other at opposite ends of the long table. The kind of table they have in school lunchroom cafeterias.

Just us. He was at one end and I was at the other.

He got up and began walking towards me.

What in the world would dorky uptight Travis have to say to me anyway, I wondered.

When he finally gets to my end of the table he sits down and started talking. I hadn’t been listening because I was too busy staring at his new smile. They were white. I could tell he had had his teeth whitened.

“Huh, I’m sorry, what did you say?”

“I was just saying how stunning you look today,” he answered.

“Travis, I don’t mean to be rude but what is this you’re doing? What’s up with the staring.”

“Has it been that long you can’t even tell when a real man is sitting right in front of you?”

“What?”

“Toya, I think you’re stunning. Beautiful. But you’ve never noticed me. Why’s that?”

“Hmmm….” His line of questioning had thrown me off guard.

“What do you mean?”

“I’m not stupid. I see the disinterest. That look you give me when I step into a room.”

“Travis, honestly, you seem like a really nice guy but if you really want to know. I think you’re a kiss ass.”

He jerked back with a smile planted on his face. It made me curious. That was not the reaction I thought I’d get. Then again he wasn’t much for confrontation.

“You want excitement don’t you?,” he asked.

“A guy who’ll tell you everything you want to hear. Make love to your mind and your body. Yet a good man sits before you and you don’t even know it.”

I was, again, taken a back.

“I want you. I have wanted you since the first time I laid eyes on you, two years ago. And it only took me changing my outside appearance to get you to notice me. Perhaps I’m not the one who needs to take the stick from up their ass.”

Ouch. That hurt. He was insinuating I was shallow. And, perhaps he was right. He was also hinting at my few failed relationships. Fucking office gossip….

I didn’t know what to say. And, with that he walked away. It was back to business as usual. We say nothing to each other for the remainder of the day although his office was nearly right across from my own.

It was time to leave. Night fall came quickly and I realized I stayed at the office longer than I had intended. It didn’t take me long to notice he was still here too.

Was he waiting? Did he always stay this late? I wanted to know.

I hear his footsteps creep up behind me as I walked down the corridor to the exit. I walked faster. The faster I walked the faster his footsteps.

I turned around swiftly to the most piercing light brown eyes. And without a word he kissed me. A deep long kiss.

With his left hand around my waist he lifted my right leg with the other pushing me against the wall.

I wanted to run, escape his embrace but it was good. He was good and I had been longing for a man’s touch.

Less than 24 hours ago I’d never paid much attention to him and now this “Mr. Goody Two Shoes” had a wild side. He could be sexy, aggressive, carefree and unpredictable. I liked it.

He began to pick me up until I reached above his head each leg wrapped around his masculine well built shoulders. Before I knew it, his head was buried beneath my neatly pressed dress. Panties shifted to the side and he dined.

Tongue thrusting in and out, in and out, in and out until my body shivered in delight. I had reached my peak. He had savored every last drop and here we were speechless.

I was back on the ground, clothes back in place. He wiped his face with the white handkerchief he always carried and we stood there in silence for 30 seconds. He moved first. Place a gentle kiss on my lips and walked back to his office.

I stood there speechless. It took me another 30 seconds to collect myself and, again, walk down the corridor to the exit.

I had prejudged him. I had preconceived notions of who I thought he was and should be.

It made me realize, just maybe, I should have given this good guy a chance.
