“The Gossip Game” Reality Show Episode 1 (Recap)

Monday night’s episode of VH1’s new reality show, “The Gossip Game”, was surprisingly entertaining. The show’s stars Kim Osorio, Editor-In-Chief of The Source magazine, Sharon Carpenter, a reporter on Russell Simmons’ Global Grind website, rivals and New York City radio personalities Angela Yee of Power 105.1 and K. Foxx of Hot 97, freelance writer Jas Fly, and bloggers Vivian Billings (Da NYC Gossip Girl) of HipHopGossipSite.com and Candace Williams (Ms. Drama) of MsDramaTV.com.

The show begins with an introduction of the seven ladies, their daily grind, and finding the balance between work and family in a male driven industry. Immediately following the introduction, the drama between the two bloggers, or as Kim Osorio puts it the “bottom of the barrel”, begins.

After previously pretending to Jas Fly she didn’t really know much about who Billings was, Ms. Drama certainly brought all the drama with her overbearing, loud talking and over the top personality following her arrival at an industry event. She wanted to know why she and Billings were no longer on speaking terms and why Viv was being distant. We quickly learn the two bloggers were previously acquainted but had a falling out because Viv thought Ms.Drama had changed for the worst from when they first met.

Thankfully there was no bottle throwing or fists flying but the night pretty much ended with Viv being branded a “ratchet” blogger and Ms. Drama being called “a pitbull”.

Although we’re still not sure what we learned from the episode we did have a few laughs a quotable moments.
