Tips On How to Choose a Good Mate

There are lots of advice out there on how to choose a good mate. Whether from your parents, close friends and family, your church community or religious organizations, you may be privy to lots of unsolicited advice. However, there’s one big indicator that you’ve either chosen right or wrong. And, that is knowing your potential mate’s relationship history. Although you can’t be one hundred percent sure if a person will treat you the same they’ve treated their exes, it’s a really good indicator if their pattern has been consistent.

I was reminded of just that, over the weekend, when urban model Blac Chyna shared an image of the new tattoo she had just gotten on the side of her palm.

The script read, “Future.” In case your wondering, as in the rapper? That would be a yes. There has been rumors for weeks that the two were secretly dating.

The photo’s captioned read, “Thought it was a drought…” Whatever that means.

And as you can imagine, the photo and captioned stirred the rumor mill. But why? And why do we care?

1. The image was shared on the same day as Future’s ex-fiancee and singer Ciara‘s 30th birthday.

2. Future isn’t exactly known to be Mr. Faithful or Mr. Commitment. It’s ironic that his name is Future. Quite frankly, no one he dates can bet on having a “future” with him. That leads me to believe that the rapper has commitment issues.

Although he has approximately five children between four different women, none of them have made it down the aisle. Ciara, however, came pretty close when the two were engaged back in October of 2013. The couple, sans marriage, would later welcome a son in early 2014.

In hindsight the rapper has a checkered past. Although Chyna too has a past, her ex-fiance is fellow rapper Tyga whom she shares a son with, we’re surprised at her choice to date yet another rapper.

We’d like to think she would have learned from her experience with her ex, who ultimately left her for a then teen, Kylie Jenner, now 18.

But here’s what we really want to say to the model turn clothing boutique and spa owner.

Dear Chyna,

Hey girl, hey!

First question. Why? What made you think that Future was a great candidate to start dating in the first place?

With all the drama that surrounded him and Ciara post split, why would you want to date a man with clear signs of commitment issues.

Furthermore, why would you, once again, enter into uncertain territories after your own relationship woes with Tyga? He too did not marry you after you had your son.

That experience was a great opportunity to learn a lesson. Unfortunately, you seemed to have not learned anything.

But here’s the most interesting and hurtful part.

Future took to his Twitter account on Tuesday to tell the world he was single and wanted to focus on what made him happy. Hmmmm, we’re guessing that doesn’t include Chyna, right?

And Chyna, if you need any further indicator Future may not be the man for you, just ask Ciara.
