We’re not sure if Rachel “Dee Dee” Jeantel did such a great job as the star witness of the Trayvon Martin murder trial against George Zimmerman.

After taking the stand, Jeantel seemed irritable and unable to properly articulate her account of the events leading up to Trayvon Martin’s death last February. She was on the phone with the young man at the time of his death. She clarifed they had not been a couple but friends. She also revealed Martin referred to Zimmerman as a “creepy ass cracker” following him as he walked back to his dad’s house from a convenient store prior to being.

Although Jeantel wasn’t as poised and articulate as we had hoped, she did reiterate previous reports to suggest Martin was not looking for an altercation with Zimmerman but was simply walking home. Unfortunately, the prosecution also reveals there were some holes in her story and that she did lie on the witness stand.

Jeantel has since deleted a number of accounts on social media since facing criticism over her testimony.

Zimmerman is facing second degree murder charges in the altercation that took the life of the then 17 year old.

Jeantel wasn’t a good witness. She couldn’t articulate properly. I feel bad for her. I hope the juror realizes that she’s a young girl, who’s still in high school.

Isn’t she 19? I think prosecution got her out of the way early for a reason.

She kept the trial interesting, and boosted the ratings. She’s not the most articulate, but she shouldn’t be discounted because of her upbringing.
