Trayvon Martin‘s parents Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin have spoken out to several media outlets since the not guilty verdict announcement in the trial against George Zimmerman. Although the Florida neighborhood watchman shot their then 17 year old son he was acquitted on his second degree murder charge. On the CBS morning show, Thursday morning, the parents expressed their disappointment and shock at the jurors who found the man responsible for their son’s death not guilty.

“I really didn’t believe that he was not guilty, says Fulton. “My first thought was shock, disgust. I think people are forgetting that Trayvon was a teenager so he probably thought as a teenager.

On whether she feels Trayvon was scared of George Zimmerman she says, “I really do believe he was afraid because he did call George Zimmerman creepy. So he was afraid and if you are 17 years old and you are afraid, you may not know what to do.”

“I wish they really knew Trayvon for who he was and knew that he was a kid, dad Tracy added. “They didn’t know him as a human being, a very decent human being, a fun-loving kid. He loved kids. I just wish they had an opportunity to really know who Trayvon was and to put that in context with what their decision was.”
