[Video Review] Ciara: “I’m Out” Feat. Nicki Minaj

In case you missed it, Ciara debut the official video for new single, “I’m Out” featuring Nicki Minaj. She also performed the single at this year’s BET Awards along with hit single “Body Party”.

Here’s my honest opinion of the song and video…..Ciara can do much better than this. We get it, she’s a great dancer but Ciara seems to be channeling Beyonce and Janet Jackson in all her latest visuals. Think about it, the dance sequence of “Body Party” is very Beyonce-esque. And now the spaceship, white fitted jumpsuit, and again the dance sequence of  “I’m Out” is sooo Janet. Although she’s not known to have powerful vocals, CiCi can work any stage. However, the content and her latest projects lack originality. Let’s be honest, how many booty shaky, booty pooping, locking and dropping, twerking videos can we take from the singer?

I believe, the lack of originality and the same dance moves along with the same sound is why she’s struggled to take her career from lukewarm to red hot!

Let’s go back to 2006 when she gave us ‘Ciara: The Evolution’. That album embodied growth from her debut album, ‘Goodies’, — which gave us hit record and a banging visual for “Like A Boy”.

We’re not sure who were the producers who worked on that album, considering she’s since switched labels, but we need her to channel whatever she did with that album. I’m concerned her fifth studio album, ‘Ciara’, will be another flop like her last two albums, ‘Fantasy Ride’ and ‘Basic Instincts’, before it.

Honestly, we’re rooting for you Ciara! The singer’s album drops on July 9th. Will you be getting a copy?
