By Her Own Rules is a platform dedicated to empowering women, especially women of color, to live in their truth, be their authentic selves and live life to its fullest potential – by their own rules.
The platform was previously home to celebrity entertainment and lifestyle weblog, cottenkandi.com. After nine years of curating content catered to celebrity culture, in 2017 it was time for a change in a different direction. The site went dormant until it was time to re-emerge with a new initiative.
We wanted to highlight content that would both inspire and entertain, while profiling the every day woman. Not just ones who made it to main stream media. Women who make an impact daily. From the boardroom, classroom, in her home, her personal and professional relationships, in her community and the world.
