What’s The Meaning Behind Jay Z And Beyonce’s Daughter’s Name, Blue Ivy Carter?

Unless you live under a rock, you’ve already heard about the birth of Jay Z and Beyonce‘s daughter, Blue Ivy Carter. Initially the name was reported as Ivy Blue but was later corrected by multiple sources including the Carter’s close friend Gwyneth Paltrow.

After tweeting a quick congrats to the couple, Gwyneth was then asked if the daughter’s name was Ivy Blue or Blue Ivy. She wrote,

After news broke that the couple had welcomed their first child and her name was released, soon there after, many wondered and speculated what it meant and even why it was chosen. As you can imagine, the media, fans and foes had a field day. Some conspiracy theorist even chimed in drawing their own conclusions, of which, I do not agree with. But here’s a thought. It’s actually the most logical answer I’ve concluded.

Blue is Jay Z’s favorite color. He even has his own shade he’s patented, appropriately titled, “Jay Z Blue”. Ivy represents the roman numeral IV or (4). The number 4 represents some very important dates for the couple. Jay Z’s birthday is Dec. 4th while Beyonce was born on the 4th of September. Beyonce’s mom, Tina Knowles’, birthday is January 4th and the couple dated for about 7 years before tying the knot in April of 2008, also on the 4th. Bey and Jay also share a matching tattoo of the the roman numeral on the ring finger of their left hand. When asked in a previous interview why they got the tattoo Beyonce revealed that even when they do not wear their wedding bands it’s comforting to know something’s still there. Bey’s fourth studio album was also given the title ‘4’ by the way and, of course, Carter is Jay Z’s real last name.

That’s pretty much it in a nut shell folks, despite what many of speculated and suggested no conspiracy theories here. Now if only we’ll get  a photo of baby Blue.
