Rumor has it, there is a movie biopic in the works of the late great Whitney Houston. And get this, it will be directed by actress Angela Bassett.

That’s right, a movie about the legendary singer is currently in pre-production and will make its world premiere in 2015 on Lifetime. In its official announcement, the network revealed that not only was the film in works but that Houston’s ‘Waiting to Exhale’ co-star in the 1995 drama, Angela Bassett, would be the movie director.

According to the official press release, the biopic would chronicle the “headline-making relationship between the iconic singer, actress, producer, and model, and singer-songwriter Bobby Brown — from the time they first met at the very height of their celebrity, to their courtship and tumultuous marriage.” The couple were married for fourteen years before divorcing in 2007. They had one child and daughter together, Bobbi Kristina Brown, 21.

Bassett, 55, whose previously worked with the network on the 2013 original movie Betty & Coretta, said in a statement on Thursday, “I have such regard for both Whitney’s and Bobby’s amazing talents and accomplishments; and I feel a responsibility in the telling of their story.”

“Their humanity and bond fascinates us all,” the statement continued. “I’m beyond excited to have this opportunity to go behind the camera and into their world.”

We can’t wait to see the movie biopic, can you?

  1. The idea of a Whitney biopic makes me sad. No happy ending for her.

I read that here daughter would like to play her as the lead. LOL….she cant act nor sing! They will need a strong talented actress to deliver and do her justice. I am hoping that this is done correct. All the tea to be spilled , leave nothing out!
