Whitney Houston Dead At 48

In some shocking news this evening, Whitney Houston has died at the age of 48.

The Associated Press reports,  the singer has died but, at the moment, no one is able to confirm just how so. The news was confirmed by Houston’s publicist Kristen Foster. She was found, by her bodyguard, in her Beverly Hilton hotel room in Beverly Hills at approximately 3:55pm (6:55pm ET).

Houston was set to appear at Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy party. Davis, the man responsible for discovering the singer as a teen and her longtime mentor or friend. For a short while, Davis contemplated cancelling the party to hold a gathering of close family and friends to remember the late singer but have since resumed the event. She leaves behind daughter, Bobbi Kristina, 18, with ex-husband and singer Bobby Brown.

Houston has been plagued with a faltering music career and substance abuse and drug addiction for nearly two decades. Although stated in a 2009 interview that she kicked her habit, it’s believe, she may have still struggled to stay sober.

It’s almost eerie to think one of the best vocalist of our time has died on the eve of the 54th Annual Grammy Awards. Truly devastating.

It was initially reported that rumored boyfriend and singer Ray J was the one who discovered her body but reports were recanted when it was discovered Whitney’s bodyguard, whose name is also Ray, was actually the one who discovered the singer’s lifeless body.

Whitney’s daughter Bobbi Kristina is said to “she is not doing well” according to CNN.

Bobby Brown whose set to perform with band New Edition on a reunion tour in Southaven, MS is devastated. He’s had a number of breakdowns but is trying to go through with the show according to band mate Jonny Gill.

Jennifer Hudson is believed to be brought in to pay tribute to Houston during Sunday night’s Grammy Awards.

Music producer Jimmy Jam, who’ll be producing the 54th annual Grammy’s this year, says the show will be changed dramatically.
