Finally, a happy ending to what began as a tragic story.

The woman who kidnapped baby Carlina White some 23 year ago has turned herself in to authorities and is being arraigned on kidnapping charges.

The woman, 49 yr. old Ann Pettway, fooled passers by when she dressed as a nurse, entered Harlem Hospital and took 19 days old baby Carlina White. We now know that she raised the baby girl under the name Nejdra Nance in near by Bridgeport, Connecticut.

Carlina later revealed that for a long time she felt different from her family and knew something was wrong. When she moved to Atlanta and could not find original documents of her birth and identity she decided to do further investigation and visited the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children website to her surprise she found a baby pictured that resembled another she had. Carlina contacted authorities soon after and solved her own missing persons case.

Carlina was reunited with her birth mother, Joy White, after DNA testing confirmed her identity.
