40th Annual ‘American Music Awards’ Nominees Announced!

It’s that time again. The American Music Awards that is. The 40th annual AMA nominees were announced earlier today and Rihanna and Nicki Minaj are leading the pack.

The ladies both lead with four nominations. Rihanna will take on Katy Perry, Drake, Justin Bieber and Maroon 5 for ‘Artist of the Year’. She and Nicki are both up for ‘Best Female Artist’ along with Katy Perry and Kelly Clarkson. Minaj is also up for best ‘Pop/Rock Album’ as well as favorite ‘Hip Hop/Rap Album’ and ‘Hip/Hop Artist’.

Rihanna will also go up against Beyonce and Mary J. Blige for best ‘R&B/Soul Album’ and ‘R&B/Soul Female Artist’.

As for best male in both those same categories, Chris Brown, Trey Songz and Usher were the only three nominated for male artists.

As for best female country artist the nominees are Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift and Miranda Lambert. The male country artists nominees include Eric Church, Luke Bryan, and Jason Aldean.

‘Best New Artist’ nominees are  J. Cole, Carly Rae Jepsen, Gotye, One Direction, and Fun.

The awards ceremony will air live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, on SUNDAY November 18th at 8/7c on ABC.
