The fierce and fiesty Tamar Braxton got emotional during her acceptance speech after winning the Best R&B/Soul Female Award at the Soul Train Music Awards. In fact, the singer and reality TV star took home two additional awards for Song Of The Year for hit single “Love & War” and The Ashford & Simpson Songwriters’ Award.

Although the show, hosted by Anthony Anderson, was previously recorded, it aired Sunday night, allowing fans to see the many performances, highlights and memorable moments. One of those highlights, Braxton’s speech, moved the crowd, even leaving her sisters, Toni, Towanda, Tracy, Trina, and mom Evelyn, teary-eyed. In her speech she says,

“I just want to start off by thanking God and just everybody who supports me and just believe in my music. And just takes me serious as an artist because that’s who I am. I just want to thank my faboulous family and my fantastically beat to death sisters and my husband Vincent Herbert……I just want to leave you guys with this note. I never thought in my life that I would be here and the only reason is that, I almost gave up on myself. And I just want to let all you guys know, no matter what you want to be, no matter who you want to be, don’t give up on you. It’s possible. I’m 36 years old and I’m proud of it. And I don’t give a damn if I was 56, she was not fittin’ to stop. Point blank and the period. And I just want to thank you guys so much for believing in R&B music, for recognizing wonderful talent and just being here. Thank you guys so much, so much, I love you so much. And all my Tamartian friends.”
