5 Reasons to Get Over Your Monday Blues

There are lots of reasons Mondays may not be your favorite day of the week. Typically, it means the start of a new work week. While the weekends offer opportunities to catch up on your growing “To-Do List,” and fun activities with family and friends, Mondays are constant reminders that we’re adults with responsibilities and in need of a paycheck.

Here are 5 ways to get over your Monday blues.

  1. Think Positively: Hey, you woke up this morning, you’re healthy, you have a job, some extra money in your pocket, people you can call friends and hopefully someplace you call home. If you’ve got three things on this list, you’re doing pretty well for yourself. Lighten up!
  2. Get Your Caffeine Fix: Feeling a bit sluggish this morning? Have you had your cup of coffee yet? In fact, treat yourself to Starbucks latte. It may very well put you in a much brighter mood. I don’t know about you, but I can’t get my day started without my caffeine fix. If this is also the case for you, grab a cup.
  3. You Have Hope: Here’s something to uplift your spirits. The mere fact you acknowledge that something is missing and there’s more to life than just having a career and working is actually a good thing. You have hope. Which means, you aren’t complacent with your life and career and actually may be inspired enough to want better and do better.
  4. You’re Doing Better Than Most: Okay, you hate your job. And, Mondays are typically the start of a new work week and a reminder of just that. But here’s something else, you’re doing a lot better than most. No, it’s true. As they say, the grass isn’t always greener on the other side. We often think about all we don’t have and the hardships that we bare, but, you may know someone going through much more burden than you could ever imagine. They may be in debt, going through a divorce, a health crisis, a family may be hungry, homeless and poverty stricken. If this isn’t you, you have lots to be thankful for.
  5. Honestly, Your Job Sucks Get A New One: First, let’s be honest. It’s not you, it’s your job! If you dread waking up each and every Monday, you may need to start looking for a new job and/or change careers. There’s no need to continue getting up every day to work for a job and people that don’t bring you joy. Here’s some advice, update your resume, do a bit of soul searching and jump ship.
