In his radio interview with Hot 97’s Angie Martinez, last week, Kanye West confirmed he would be collaborating with athletics company Adidas. Although he spoke a bit about the joint venture, Adidas hadn’t yet made any official announcements. That was until today.
The company released this official statement, earlier today, although not getting into any specifics about what we can expect.
“For 2014, we welcome to the adidas family one of the most influential cultural icons of this generation, Kanye West. Well known for breaking boundaries across music, film and design and partnering with our history in street wear culture and leading innovations in sport, we look forward to creating a new chapter. Details to follow.”
If you’re all wondering what happened between West and Adidas’ competitor, Nike, he also spoke a great deal about the fall out with the company in his radio interview with Martinez.
The rapper revealed he felt he and Nike had creative differences and he wasn’t given any royalties after creating his very successful Air Yeezy sneaker line with the company. “I took the Adidas deal because I have royalties and I have to provide for my family,” Ye said at the time.
The deal is reportedly worth $10 million.
We certainly can’t wait to see the creativity this partnership will foster, can you?
