BET-The-Game-Season-9-Cancelled

Well, all good things must come to an end. BET has decided to throw in the towel with one time hit sitcom, “The Game.”

After being cancelled in 2006 by the CW Network, fans were shocked by the news. Many viewers were highly disappointed that the Sabers would have to say farewell to their fans. Luckily, BET revived The Game, in 2012, and has since produced 4 more seasons.

Unfortunately, the show has lost its steam as well as many of its viewers. In the last several seasons, the ratings drastically dropped. To the fans’ dismay, the episodes got less and less interesting. It also didn’t help that some of the show’s most beloved actors, Melanie played by Tia Mowry and Derwin played by Pooch Hall, also left the show to pursue other endeavors. With that said, BET is now calling it quits following production of the next two seasons, which will air in January 2015.

After the announcement was made, the Game’s show creator and writer Mara Brock Akil expressed her appreciation for being allowed to continue the life of her sitcom. “We also offered drama in a half-hour space,” she stated. “And that was my own personal desire, but it was also reflective of what the audience has been wanting, which is more well-rounded, deeper, richer, layered characters, and they got that in ‘The Game.’”

Sweethearts will you miss the beloved show?
