When Shad Moss, 27, formerly known as Bow Wow, and Erica Mena, 28, announced their engagement last, we all thought the couple’s far-fetched relationship and engagement was a publicity stunt. Well, let’s be honest some of us still think it’s a farce. Nonetheless, with the release of the couple’s engagement photos, we have to wonder, could this be the real deal? It seems so.
The couple recently unveiled their engagement photos exclusively through People magazine — detailing just how they fell in love.
“I’ve known Erica for a long, long time,” Moss told PEOPLE.
And after working together on BET’s music countdown show, 106 & Park, the couple’s friendship turned into something much more romantic. In fact, it was an on-air kiss that set the relationship into motion.
“We noticed we had a lot in common and just took it day by day. You know how it goes, you text one day, then start texting every day,” says Moss . “She’s very smart, silly, knows how to hustle. And she’s electrifying. Anytime you have all of that in a woman, what more could you want?”
“The player life is cool, but I don’t want it to define me,” the rapper and actor adds. “I’ve done it all, but being on the road, the groupies, you get burnt out.”
“I wanted to be a better man than my father was,” says Moss, who has a 3 year old daughter, Shai, from a previous relationship. “This relationship has definitely changed me as a person.”
The reality star also has a son, King, 7.
And of Mena’s beautiful 20-carat diamond engagement ring? The rapper actually collaborated with celebrity jeweler Elliot Avianne of Avianne & Co on the sparkler.
The pair plan on tying the knot sometime in June. Congratulations to the happy couple!
