Chris Brown, ‘Fortune’ Album Debuts #1 With 134K Sales

Well, isn’t this a clear sign album sales have decreased drastically. Although his latest studio album ‘Fortune’ garnered the #1 spot on the Billboard 200. It only sold a mere 134,290 in its first week. Perhaps gone are the days major artists can still sell well within the 300-400k mark in the first week of an album release. Just four weeks ago, Usher’s latest album, ‘Looking 4 Myself’ also debut no. 1 with only 128,000 sales.

But not to worry, don’t feel too bad for Mr. Brown. The album is doing quite well in several other countries. It’s currently #1 in the UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, France, Japan, Austria, Belgium, Finland, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, New Zealand, Thailand, Philippines and Malaysia.

These figures take into account both physical sales and purchases made on I-tune. ‘Fortune’ is Brown’s second number 1 album. His last, “F.A.M.E’ also debut at #1 selling 270,000 in its first week.

Congrats Chris!
