Chris Tucker was just announced as the 2013 host of The BET Awards. The network made the announcement on Tuesday that the comedian and actor will be hosting the show on June 30 at the Nokia Theater, live in Los Angeles.
The news shouldn’t come as a surprise, however. Tucker was recently spotted with BET CEO Debra Lee and President Stephen Hill at the ‘BET Upfronts’ event earlier this month. It seems the 41-year-old had been in talks with these two for some time now.
Upon the announcement, Tucker released an official statement of his own stating, “ [I’m] looking forward to being part of a really great show.”
We think Tucker is actually a great choice for the show that’s been hosted by comedians including Mo’ Nique, Steve Harvey and Kevin Hart. He’s known to be private and has fallen off the radar a bit since starring in the “Rush Hour” franchise but we’re glad to see he’s making a comeback to the spotlight.
The BET Awards will begin the weekend of June 28th with a concert series called the “BET Experience at L.A. Live.” Performers include Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar, Miguel, R. Kelly and The Jacksons.
Are you looking forward to seeing Chris Tucker host the show this year?
