Wow! We so don’t want to believe this one. Elmo puppeteer Kevin Clash, 52, has been accused of having sexual contact with an underage boy.
The Emmy award winning ‘Sesame Street’ “voice actor”, for the past 27 years, has been put on leave amid rumors he had an inappropriate relationship with a sixteen year old boy.
In an official statement released by Sesame workshop, the production company of the children’s education show, its been revealed that a man now 23 stated back in June that he had had a sexual relationship with Clash beginning when he was 16.
Although the Workshop says they’ve done a thorough investigation and wasn’t able to find any evidence to support the accuser’s statements, Clash has been put on mandatory leave until final resolution and a decision has been made.
TMZ reports, Clash did admit to having a relationship with the boy but insist the relationship did not begin until he turned 18.
The Workshop also states, “Kevin exercised poor judgment and violated company policy regarding internet usage and he was disciplined.”
On to whether Clash will get his job back the statement reads, ““Elmo is bigger than any one person and will continue to be an integral part of ‘Sesame Street’ to engage, educate and inspire children around the world, as it has for 40 years.”
