How to Use Clubhouse for Your Business & to Find Your Audience

Have you joined Clubhouse? If you’re wondering what is Clubhouse, it is a social media podcasting platform where you’re able to start Rooms (discussions) or join Rooms with various different topics that you’re interested or an expert in. It’s great for also learning more about topics you’re not savvy in, exchanging ideas with others, and having a thought-provoking conversation.

I believe that the platform is extremely beneficial for networking and meeting like-minded individuals. It can also be a detriment to your time-management, productivity, and encountering individuals you may not want to encounter on a day-to-day basis. But here are some best practices on how to make the platform work for you, especially as a business owner.

1) It is what you make of it – Like any other social platform, it will become what you make it. If you’re joining conversations that offer you a different perspective or value, then that is what you’ll get. If you intend on using it casually then that is what you will get. If you decide to engage in conversation and Rooms that are controversial and combative then that is what you’ll also get.

2) Be Intentional – Be intentional about your reason for joining and using Clubhouse. Like mentioned above, Clubhouse usage will be what you want it to be. Whether your goal is to position yourself as an authoritative figure and subject-matter-expert in your niche, grow and scale your business, amplify career growth, or connect with like-minded individuals to collaborate. Be intentional. This goes beyond joining Rooms that offer value but around setting the goals to align with your intent for using the platform.

3) Follow the right people – Your Hallroom (feed) will be tailored to topics and individuals based on your interests, industries, and niche. Following the right people can amplify or hinder your Clubhouse experience so be intentional (there goes that word again) about the people that you follow.

4) Add a bio and be specific with the details in it – Your bio is searchable by keywords and icons so I advise that you put as much valuable information in your bio, with details of your educational background, certifications and qualifications, years of experience, profession, business/es and where to find and connect with you off of Clubhouse.

The platform allows you to link your Twitter and Instagram handles. From personal experience, it’s been a great way to grow my following both on and off Clubhouse, especially when I curate conversations and start my own Rooms.

5) Start Room Topics and Engage – Starting a Room simply means starting a conversation and inviting people to listen to you speak. You also have the option to schedule topic discussions in advance and invite people to join you in conversation. You can add them as a moderator upon scheduling or during the discussion. Once the session begins, you’re also able to ping friends you’re connected with to join the conversation, to contribute, or listen.

Starting Rooms is a great way to grow your following and connect with fellow industry experts.

6) Join Clubs – Like starting Room topics, joining clubs is a great way to connect with other industry experts and like-minded individuals. It’s also great for being alerted on and following scheduled discussions the group was created for.

The benefits of using Clubhouse correctly:

  • Grow your following and community.
  • Position yourself as a subject matter expert.
  • Access to high-profile individuals and influencers in your niche.
  • Become profitable by pointing people to your $Cashapp and where they can purchase your product and services.

Some drawbacks of using Clubhouse:

  • Everyone who says they’re an expert isn’t.
  • Encountering combative personalities and discussions.
  • There are explicit language and conversations so be careful which Rooms you enter.
