Actor Idris Elba sits down with Oprah, this Sunday, to discuss much about his portrayal of the late Nelson Mandela, who passed away earlier in the week.
Lady O was more than happy to sit down with the actor. Upon sharing this behind the scenes image (above) of their meet up she added, “@idriselba can you tell how happy I was to meet you?#nextchapter”
Of his thoughts on Mandela and realizing what he may have gone through while locked away in prison for 27 years Elba says:
“I just heard a series of locks and I had the most amazing sense of loss. I was like ‘WOW’ and it just put it into perspective about what Madiba had gone through.”
The actor also talks about his father’s death as a result of lung cancer and not coming to terms with it or fully grieving.
‘Next Chapter’ airs tonight (Sunday, Dec. 8th) on OWN. The episode also includes ’12 Years A Slave’ actor Chitewel Ejiofor, and ‘Fruitvale Station’ star Michael B. Jordan.
