Jada-Pinkett-Smith-Arsenio-Hall-Relationship-Tupac-Gotham-Interview

Jada Pinkett-Smith sat down with Arsenio Hall, Sunday night, to discuss her new role on the upcoming television series, Gotham. The topic turned to her relationship with the late Tupac and how he inspired her and was the first man to see something in her other than sex.

“Pac was probably one of the first male figures that I had in my life that saw the beauty and the talent and my intelligence, separated from sex. That’s something that a young girl usually gets from her father; I didn’t have that. ‘Pac was the first one that it wasn’t about sex. It was about ‘You, you’re a beautiful woman, you’re talented, you’re strong, I respect you. And you are my girl. You’re gon’ sit right here, and I’ma protect you.'”

Pinkett-Smith also talks her upbringing and how it prepared her for Hollywood. She says, “My mother had me at the age of 18 years old. And, you know, our journey together was a little rough, considering drug addiction, youth, just growing up. So I had the best of both worlds with learning how to navigate the good life, and the not-so-good life.”
