All hail Lupita Nyong’o! The beautiful 31-year-old actress was just named Lancôme’s Ambassadress.
She will be featured in advertisements launching this September and I’m sure she will look absolutely flawless! Nyong’o joins other notable celebrity brand ambassadors including Kate Winslet, Julia Roberts and Penélope Cruz, but definitely will stand out as she is the first black ambassador! Woop, you go girl, with your PERFECT skin!
The 12 Years A Slave star told WWD, “What they do supports something that already is — and that was appealing to me, too. It’s what drew me to them. Hopefully it’s a symbiotic relationship — that I benefit from being associated with them, and they benefit from being associated with me, as well. And for the consumer at large, I think Lancôme has a range of products for every woman, and I think having me will expand people’s understanding of, hopefully, what Lancôme stands for, who Lancôme is for.”
Although we don’t need any exclamation as to why the beauty was chosen (because she is phenomenal, point blank), the General Manager of Lancôme International, Françoise Lehmann said that the French cosmetic and skin care company picked Nyong’o because she is “talented and committed, true to her African beauty, and showing a great curiosity and open-mindedness in her career choices.”
She is already involved in the Miu Miu spring/summer 2014 campaign so there is no surprise that another huge brand brought her in to slay the ads!

Lancome is pretty global in terms of their casting, but she is the first actress of colour to land a contract. I’m happy for her!!
