Who has a diva, like Mariah Carey, considering leaving ‘American Idol’? None other than thee “black barbie” Nicki Minaj!
According to NYC Gossip Girl, Mariah is ready to leave American Idol due to the threats she’s received from Nicki nearly two weeks ago in North Carolina. There is a clause in Mariah’s contract that allows her to leave the show if she felt her life was in danger.
TMZ was able to get a hold of the captured footage of Nicki and Mariah butting heads during the North Carolina audition. As a result, shooting had been cancelled for the remainder of the day while the ladies cooled off. Nicki was overheard saying, “Every time you take a shot at me, I am going to take it right back!”
After the North Carolina incident, Mariah had an interview with Barbara Walters about the drama between herself and Nicki. Mariah told Barbara that many people heard Nicki saying, “If I had a gun, I would shoot the b***h.”
Almost immediately, Nicki fired back on Twitter taking shots at Mariah sending Twitter in a frenzy. She tweeted,
But don’t feel bad for Mariah. If she chooses to leave over her spat with Nicki she’s still entitled to the $18 million she signed on for to do Idol. Sweet deal, right?
Question is, why would Mariah need a clause written in her contract in the event she was threatened? Remember, Mariah had already signed on to do the show prior to Nicki’s involvement. Perhaps, rumors suggesting the beef, gone horribly wrong, was drummed up for ratings is true.
