And they’re done! Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj won’t be returning as ‘American Idol’ judges for the show’s upcoming thirteenth season.
Following Randy Jackson‘s announced departure earlier this month, neither diva saw the purpose of coming back to the music competition show.
Of her idol exit Mariah retweeted a story from her reps confirming the news. The statement read, “W/ global success of “#Beautiful” (#1 in 30+ countries so far) @MariahCarey confirms world tour & says goodbye 2 Idol.”
As for what’s next for the super star? Carey is currently working on another album and world tour.
Following Mariah’s own announcement, the day before, Nicki also confirmed the news on Twitter. She tweeted Thursday afternoon, “Thank you American Idol for a life changing experience! Wouldn’t trade it for the world!” she tweeted, adding, “Time to focus on the Music!!! Mmmuuuaahhh!!!”
However, no one is really all too surprised these two won’t be back. This past season has been filled with meaningless feuds between the two and let’s not forget the dwindling ratings.
The last remaining Judge, Keith Urban, have yet to make an official announcement. He’s not expected to return either, however.
And although no official confirmations have been made on who will replace the judges, singers and former Idol contestants, Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Clarkson, and Adam Lambert have all been named as possible prospects.
