Singer and actress Zendaya Coleman has one big reason to be very proud of herself right now. At just eighteen years old, Coleman has just been honored; having a barbie doll made in her liking.
The barbie was inspired by Coleman’s Oscar faux locks hair and attire, which became significant for the unintended controversy it caused.
Coleman was critiqued for the look. In fact, E News! correspondent Giuliana Rancic made some damaging statements which eventually led to her resignation with the network (Read HERE).
Although Rancic would later apologize, the teen chose the opportunity to educate the journalist and the world about why her statements were ignorant (Read HERE). For that reason, Barbie chose to honor Coleman as someone who has chosen to use their voice responsibly.
Upon making the announcement, the company released this statement as well.
