Over the weekend, Yandy Smith hosted her fourth annual Everything Girls Love women empowerment event in New York City.

Joined by a panelist of women from the media, political, law and motivational speaking backgrounds, Smith and the group of women encouraged the room filled with aspiring young professionals to stay motivated no matter what. As Smith puts it, rule number one, “surround yourself with a team that’s smarter and wiser than you are.”

The panelist and special guests included Smith, as we know, the music manager, reality star, philanthropist, wife-to-be, mother and business woman, Janell Hazelwood, a digital media producer for BlackEnterprise.com, Tamika D. Mallory, a nationally recognized civil rights activist, Precious Avorkliyah, a psychotherapist and emotional wellness consultant and director for EGL PUD; a mentorship program for young girls, Latoya Bond, Owner and CEO of Everything Girls Love LLC and owner of Bond Brand Management (BBM), Ayanna Stevens, Vice President and the Chief of Staff in Human Resources at a Wall Street Investment Bank and CFO of Girls Love Events, Tashera Simmons, ex-wife to rapper DMX and motivational speaker, Kehinde Smith, the owner of multi-million dollar beauty brand My Extensionz (she’s just 24 years old!) and attorney and small business expert Delisha Grant.

Unfortunately talent manager, publisher television producer and TV host Mona Scott Young was not able to attend the event.

During our one-on-one interview with Smith she reveals that she has just signed her contract to return for season five of the popular Love and Hip Hop reality show. We’ll get to see more of her relationship with fiance Mendeecess Harris and their transition to resume their family life Harris’ release, earlier this year, from jail on charges related to drug trafficking.

Of their relationship, Smith says she can’t wait to begin wedding plans and actually get married. And, as for having more children she says she thinks she’d like to have a total of five children. The couple’s young son, Omere, just celebrated his second birthday by the way.

Held at the 404 NYC, the event and venue was spectacular. The decor was also delightful courtesy Chef Mike Valli.

Celebrity friends and guests included former reality star and model Kimbella, reality star and author Natalie Nunn, Dymes Only Clothing founder and younger sister to singer Ashanti, Shia Douglas, and singer-songwriter Jessica Betts.
