If you haven’t heard, Missy Elliot is back! The Hip-Hop icon has just released a new single and visual for “WTF (We The From),” featuring Pharrell Williams and we’re hoping it means a new album is also on the way.
Featured in the visual, is Elliott’s protegé Sharaya J. What we find intriguing about J is her eclectic style and unique sound; although it is clear Elliot is one of her influences.
Our friends over at Team Curtains were able to sit down with J recently before she took the stage as part of Elliot’s headline set at the UK Bestival.
According to the site, “The 31-year old Hawaiian-born American entertainer is best known for her single hits, “B.A.N.J.I.” and “Smash Up the Place,” speaks on set details of her performance alongside her mentor Missy and how it’s one of her life goals to open for Janet Jackson‘s while she is on tour… Well she might just be in luck as Janet’s latest single ‘BURNITUP!’ features Missy Misdemeanor and we livin’ for the fact that they WILL perform that song together!”
